How did you get that beer!?
Often in this network of breweries and relationships, beers and wines, and bar 2 bar friends it can be dicey on who has what beer and why. My philosophy has always been to share for the sake of the brews because the more people that beer can reach at the PROPER place of course the more appreciation it can get and in the end that is the whole point. So being on the very small end of the spectrum here in San Diego with regards to rotational handles and places that actually care about beer I always try and share the wealth of knowledge to break down any barrier or secret society of beer procurement. It doesnt please me to say to someone when they ask for say an Alpine beer I cant get that but sometimes this is just the way business is. You need a better participation from the manufacturers to want to put the beer in a place that cares but I want people to know that Hamilton’s tries to share the wealth of knowledge about great beers and Im truly excited to see when people listen and put on a beer suggested or Im able to procure a beer or I know about a limited supply and I make the right phone calls to the other folks so they dont miss out. After all is this not the point of supporting craft brewing?
So that’s my rant and now for a little perspective. Since we’ve been open noone has been as supportive of what we’re doing then Louis from the Liar’s Club. In fact, i try and pattern my ‘team beer’ philosophy on this. It’s his relationship and generosity that helped Hamilton’s get a few beers like Drakes IPA, Avery The Czar, it was Dennis Borlek who was able to help me offer the myriad of Russian River beers we had last winter, it’s a couple road trips from the crew from the linkery who carried back a few kegs from Moonlight Brewing Company and isnt this the point about being part of a beer community? I certainly have reciprocated to my comrades as well but the next time you find a great beer or you taste a phenomenal brew dont forget to share that with someone who cares and then give em a little props! Good ale drinking for everyone who wants a good ale!
