OUR STORY
Hamilton’s Tavern is a traditional neighborhood alehouse located in the heart of the historic South Park area of San Diego. 1521 30th Street has been licensed to serve beer and wine for over 75 years, making it the oldest beer and wine licensed location in San Diego. Formerly the beloved dive bar, Sparky’s, Hamilton’s opened in 2006 under new ownership and is now solely focused on offering the highest quality ales, real ales and craft beers from around the world.
WHO IS HAMILTON?
Our tavern was named after Mr. Herman Hamilton, a South Park resident for over 35 years and an American patriot, having served his country as a member of the storied Montford Point Marines. Although he does not drink, you can find Mr. Hamilton at the Tavern nearly every day and he always has a kind word or classic story to share! Herman is our dear friend and we could not think of a better person as the namesake to our treasured alehouse then this remarkable man.
We believe that it is our privilege to serve our patrons, not the other way around. So when you come to Hamilton’s, we hope you feel like you have been treated as a guest and a friend and not just a customer. We hope to see you soon for a cold pint of high quality ale.
